Gao Xia (高侠) — Falun Gong Practitioner Reported Sentenced to Two Years in Jinzhou

Gao Xia (高侠) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Guta District, Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, reported to have been sentenced to two years in prison. She was arrested at home by Taihe branch domestic-security police on October 14, 2025, and has been held at the Jinzhou Women’s Detention Center.

Background

Gao Xia was born in June 1970 and lived in Guta District, Jinzhou. She had twin daughters. According to a Falun Gong-affiliated reporting outlet, she began practicing Falun Gong after years of severe health problems, and attributed her recovery to the practice. The outlet describes her as the mainstay of her family — caring for her elderly mother, who could no longer live independently, and for her mother-in-law, and working in a job where she was recognized as a model worker.

Arrest and reported sentence

On October 14, 2025, Taihe domestic-security officers entered her home, detained her, and searched the residence, seizing Falun Gong books and personal belongings, according to the Falun Gong-affiliated outlet. She was then placed in the Jinzhou Women’s Detention Center. Another practitioner, Song Lijie (69), was detained in the same raid. The outlet reports that during the investigation, police misled and pressured Gao Xia’s husband, telling him her “problems were serious” and warning that he too could be detained.

In August 2026, the outlet reported that Gao Xia had been sentenced to two years in prison, with the term running to October 14, 2027, and that she remained at the Jinzhou Women’s Detention Center. The charge was not specified in the report. Song Lijie was reported to have received a one-year sentence and to have been transferred to the Liaoning Women’s Prison about four months earlier.

Status

As of the latest available evidence (August 1, 2026), Gao Xia was reported to be serving a two-year sentence at the Jinzhou Women’s Detention Center. The charge and the court are not documented in the public record reviewed. No release has been reported.

Identity note

She should not be confused with a Japan-based woman named Gao Xia who appears in a separate Falun Gong report as a relative reporting another person’s detention; that is a different person.
