Guo Jia (郭嘉)

Guo Jia (郭嘉) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Wuqing District, Tianjin, who was sentenced in December 2025 to two years and ten months in prison with a 12,000-yuan fine.

At around noon on September 3, 2025, seven or eight officers from the Quanxing Road police station in Yangcun Town, Wuqing District, together with domestic-security police, took Guo from his home and searched it, confiscating Falun Gong books and personal belongings. He was placed in criminal detention at the Wuqing District detention center and was subsequently formally arrested and indicted.

Guo was tried on November 24, 2025; his defense pleaded not guilty. On December 30, 2025, he received the verdict from the Wuqing court: two years and ten months in prison and a 12,000-yuan fine. Guo filed an appeal. The monitoring database records his term as ending on July 2, 2028. The database does not state the criminal charge applied by the court.

The monitoring report on political and conscience prisoners in mainland China (维权网, Issue 131, August 31, 2026) lists Guo Jia / 郭嘉 among five people sentenced to two years and ten months, which resolves the roster’s English-only entry to the Chinese characters 郭嘉.

Status note: Reported detained as of January 3, 2026 — the latest published case update (appeal then pending). The monitoring record states his term runs to July 2, 2028. Current custody status has not been independently re-verified since 2026-01-03; no appeal outcome, no criminal charge, and no prison transfer beyond the Wuqing District detention center may be stated as fact.

Name note: The case report prints the name as 郭嘉(郭佳), noting both character forms for this person.
