Guo Pingzhen / 郭平珍

Guo Pingzhen (郭平珍) is a Falun Gong practitioner and beauty-salon owner from Wuxue City, Hubei Province. Monitoring sources report that she was sentenced to ten years in prison on July 23, 2020.

2018 arrest and 2020 sentence

Minghui reports that Guo was arrested at her home on February 3, 2018 with other practitioners and that police seized Falun Gong materials, computers and printers. The Wuxue City Procuratorate reportedly approved the arrests in March 2018 and later indicted the group.

Guo was arrested again on July 8, 2020 after a period away from home. On July 23, 2020, the Wuxue City Court tried five defendants. Minghui reported that Guo received ten years in prison and a 20,000-yuan fine; three co-defendants received eight years and one received four years.

Earlier detention history

Minghui reports an arrest in Beijing in December 2012, a two-year forced-labor term, hunger strike and alleged force-feeding at Daxing Forced Labor Camp. Additional arrests were reported in 2015 and earlier. These treatment allegations remain source-attributed.

Status and evidence limits

The Falun Dafa Information Center included Guo’s case in a 2021 submission to a United Nations Special Rapporteur, listing the criminal charge as unknown and Qichun County Detention Center as the last known location. No verified update after August 2020 was located, so no later facility or precise release date is asserted.
