Hao Jingming (郝京明) — Person Profile
Hao Jingming (郝京明), a Falun Gong practitioner and former People’s Liberation Army Air Force major, was sentenced to seven years and eight months in prison in March 2024 — his second prison term, according to the Rights Defense Network (维权网), a Chinese human-rights documentation group. The Rights Defense Network’s (维权网) monthly political-prisoners report (Issue 131, August 31, 2026) lists him in its 7-year-8-month sentence band, confirming he remains in custody serving his term as of that date.
The case
According to the Rights Defense Network’s case account (March 17, 2024), Mr. Hao was born in 1966 and began practicing Falun Gong early. He studied for three years at the Nanjing Air Force Meteorological College and went on to serve as one of the heads of the air force meteorological station at Baishiyi, Chongqing, holding the rank of major and a technical grade of nine, described in the report as equivalent to deputy-regiment rank.
In March 2011, Mr. Hao was arrested in Shiqiaopu, Jiulongpo District, Chongqing, while talking to members of the public about Falun Gong, the report states. He was held at the Shapingba District Baiheling detention center, sentenced to seven and a half years in 2012, and held at Yongchuan Prison, where the report says he was subjected to mistreatment. He was released in 2018 and returned to his home village of Donghaojiatuan, under the Fengtai subdistrict office in Pingdu City, Qingdao, Shandong, to care for his mother.
On July 3, 2023, Mr. Hao was arrested again at his home in Pingdu and taken to the Pingdu City Detention Center, the report states. He was placed under criminal detention, formally arrested, and prosecuted. In March 2024, the group learned that he had been sentenced to seven years and eight months in prison with a fine of 30,000 yuan; his stated sentence term runs to March 2, 2031.
