Hu Mingxia (胡明霞), born 1964, is a former cadre of the Development and Reform Commission of Xiuwen County, Guiyang, Guizhou Province. She began practicing Falun Gong in 2000.
On April 23, 2014, Hu was taken by plainclothes police while at work in the county Development and Reform Commission offices. Police searched her home on April 23 and April 27, seizing computers, printers, and books. She was held at the Xiuwen County detention center. On June 15, 2014, the Xiuwen County procuratorate brought her case to the county court; after the court twice returned the case for insufficient evidence, she was tried on June 3, 2015 and sentenced to six years in prison. Her appeal was rejected by the Guiyang Intermediate Court on July 27, 2015 without a hearing. On August 18, 2015, she was transferred to Yang’ai Prison (Guizhou’s women’s prison), where family visits were sharply restricted. She was released in April 2020.
On July 11, 2022, more than twenty people entered Hu’s home, took her away, and searched the residence; her parents, both in their eighties and nineties, were left without care. She was held at the Sanjiang detention center in Guiyang. In May 2024, it was learned that she had been sentenced to six years and six months; the charge was not reported. Her term runs to January 10, 2029.
As of the most recent dated records — a prisoner database entry from June 2024, a case file updated in March 2025, and a rights-group monthly prisoner report dated August 31, 2026 listing her among those serving six-and-a-half-year terms — Hu Mingxia remains in custody.
