Huang Ruhong (黄濡红)
Huang Ruhong (黄濡红), born in June 1959, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Guangdong Province — a native of Puning who lived in Shenzhen’s Luohu District — reported to be serving a four-year sentence in mainland China.
According to case records compiled by the Chinese Human Rights Defenders (CHRD) Prisoners of Conscience database, Huang has been detained repeatedly since 1999 for his practice: two years at the Shenzhen No. 2 labor camp in 2007, and a three-and-a-half-year sentence with a 10,000-yuan fine in 2017, served at Shaoguan’s Beijiang Prison until his release in August 2020.
The database states that on September 19, 2023, Huang was taken in Guangzhou by officers of the Panyu district public-security branch, his home was searched, and he was held at the Panyu detention center. A November 3, 2024 report by Minghui, a Falun Gong–affiliated news outlet, states that he was reported the previous evening for posting small stickers about Falun Gong, and that his son’s home was searched. On October 29, 2024, the Guangzhou Haizhu District Court sentenced him to four years with a 5,000-yuan fine; the report states he said in court that he would appeal. His reported term runs to September 18, 2027. The formal charge and his detention location after sentencing are not recorded in the available sources.
An English-language version of the Minghui report was published on November 8, 2024, giving the same account of the arrest, trial, and sentencing.
