This archive accompanies the canonical profile of Jiang Fuxing / 蒋复兴, a Baoyuan Coal Mine worker from Qiyang County, Hunan, and a principal defendant in the 1990 Chenzhou prosecution of the organization the court called the “Democratic China Front — Mountain Branch” (民主中国阵线山地支部).
Documented record
The surviving criminal judgment — Hunan Chenzhou Prefecture Intermediate People’s Court, Criminal Trial Division No. 1, case (1990) 郴一初字第88号, issued November 7, 1990 — convicted five defendants of the crime of forming a counterrevolutionary clique (反革命集团罪). The judgment identifies Jiang as 26 years old, Han, a native of Qiyang County, and a worker at Baoyuan Coal Mine. It treats Jiang and fellow defendant Bai Xiaomao as principal organizers (主犯): the court found that Jiang drafted the group’s political leaflets, whose program included demands that citizens elect their own state leader and governing party.
Jiang was sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment, calculated from March 4, 1990 through March 3, 1998, plus three years’ deprivation of political rights.
A note on the sentence figure: an earlier working transcription of the judgment photograph read the term as six years. A subsequent direct audit of the verdict photograph — read independently three times — found the character 八 and the term-end date 1998-03-03, establishing eight years as the controlling reading. The same audit corrected the organization’s name to 民主中国阵线山地支部.
The judgment survives only in photographs of pages 1, 4 and 5, from a family-held copy published with a 2023 report by the organization WRIC; pages 2 and 3 have not been recovered.
Identity caution
The judgment’s identity block for Jiang Fuxing — age, ethnicity, native place, workplace — is consistent across the surviving pages. No conflicting identity records have been found.
Status caution
No reliable prison assignment, release record, or post-release biography has been established. The nominal end of the sentence must not be treated as evidence of release. Current status is not verified.
