Jiang Yuntian / 姜云天

Jiang Yuntian (姜云天) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Dalian, Liaoning Province. Falun Gong-affiliated reporting describes three major periods of custody: a reeducation-through-labor term beginning in 2000, a ten-year prison term beginning in 2003, and a four-year sentence reported after his July 2024 arrest in Guangzhou.

Earlier detention history

Minghui reports that Jiang traveled to Beijing with his wife and child in October 2000 to petition for Falun Gong and was later sent to a Dalian reeducation-through-labor camp for a three-year term. The outlet alleges that he was severely mistreated there in 2001; those allegations have not been independently verified.

Minghui reports that Jiang was arrested again on July 23, 2003 by Dalian police and sentenced to ten years in prison. A 2005 Clearwisdom report lists “Jiang Yuntian (Dalian)” at Sanshuini Prison in Dalian. Minghui reports that he completed the ten-year term and was released in July 2013.

2024 Guangzhou arrest and sentence

Minghui reports that Jiang was arrested at his Guangzhou residence on July 12, 2024 by officers connected to the Conghua branch and Shengang police station and was held at the Conghua District Detention Center. A later report states that the Liwan District Court sentenced him to four years in prison at an unspecified date and that the Guangzhou Intermediate Court rejected his appeal.
