Jing Shuren (景树仁) is a Chinese citizen described in rights reporting as an advocate for migrant workers and other people pursuing unpaid wages, compensation and grievances. He was detained in 2024 and was reported in September 2026 to have received a four-year first-instance prison sentence.
2024 detention
Free China Movement reporting states that Jing was detained in March 2024 after reposting material concerning migrant workers seeking unpaid wages. Human Rights in China reported separately that Lanzhou police criminally detained him on suspicion of “picking quarrels and provoking trouble” for reposting Weibo material about wage disputes involving migrant workers.
2026 proceedings
An HRIC weekly brief published ahead of an April 8–10, 2026 pretrial conference reported that Jing had then been imprisoned for more than two years. On September 11, 2026, Free China Movement reported, citing Chinese Human Rights Defenders, that Jing had received a four-year first-instance sentence for “picking quarrels and provoking trouble” and intended to appeal.
Status and evidence limits
The September 2026 sentencing information remains attributed to CHRD through the Free China Movement report; no public judgment or second independent report of the judgment was located in the prepared record. The court name, detention facility, exact sentence start date, age, occupation and family details are not established. An appeal was stated to be planned; no appeal outcome is asserted.
