Kong Fanwei (孔凡卫) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Wuqing District, Tianjin. Prisoner-monitoring records report that he was arrested in July 2024 and sentenced in November 2024 to seven years and six months in prison.
2024 detention
The Chinese Human Rights Defenders prisoners-of-conscience database and the Minghui case archive report that Kong was detained on July 3, 2024 at a market in Chengguan Town while using banknotes carrying Falun Gong-related messages. Police searched his home the same day and seized computers, printers, books and cash, according to those sources.
Trial and sentence
The prisoner database reports that the Wuqing District Court tried Kong by video on November 8, 2024 without notifying his family and sentenced him to seven years and six months in prison. The formal criminal charge is listed as unknown. The record states that he was transferred the following day to Tianjin Binhai Prison.
Earlier reported police attention
Minghui reports earlier police actions at Kong’s home in 2015 and 2016, including a search after he mailed a complaint against former leader Jiang Zemin. Those incidents are source-attributed and have not been independently verified through official records.
Status and evidence limits
Rights Defense Network Issue 131 lists 孔凡卫 among reported current prisoners in its seven-years-six-months group as of August 31, 2026. The prisoner database gives January 2, 2032 as the term endpoint; that date is retained as a database value rather than an independently verified release date. Prison conditions, health and appeal status are unknown.
