Li Meilian / 李美莲

Li Meilian (李美莲) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Yingtan, Jiangxi Province. Falun Gong-affiliated reporting states that she was arrested in March 2020 and sentenced in early February 2021 to eight years in prison.

2020 arrest and trial

Minghui reports that Li was detained during a Yingtan police operation in March 2020. One report gives March 15 as the arrest date; another gives March 25. Both report that her arrest was formally approved on April 22, 2020. That ten-day discrepancy remains unresolved.

Sources also differ by one day on the trial: October 31 versus October 30, 2020. The case was heard by the Guixi City Court.

2021 sentence and prison

Minghui reports that Li was sentenced to eight years in prison in early February 2021 and transferred to Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison, where later reporting placed her in No. 2 Division.

Earlier reported history

Minghui describes earlier forced-labor terms and a five-year prison sentence imposed in 2002. It also alleges serious mistreatment during prior and current detention. Those accounts remain explicitly source-attributed and have not been independently verified.

Status and evidence limits

Rights Defense Network Issue 131 lists 李美莲 among reported current prisoners in its eight-year-sentence group as of August 31, 2026. No exact sentence-end date or current prison-condition update beyond the dated reporting is inferred.
