Li Shulin (李树林) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Jianxi District, Luoyang City, Henan Province. Falun Gong-affiliated reporting states that he and his wife, Wang Lijuan, were detained in 2023 and that Li was sentenced to four years in prison.
2023 case
The World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong reports that Li and Wang, both retirees, were taken from their home on January 31, 2023 after being reported for distributing Falun Gong materials. Their home was searched and they were placed under residential surveillance.
The organization reports that the couple were taken into custody again in March or April 2023 and sentenced by the Jianxi District Court in a closed proceeding: Li to four years and Wang to five. Li was reportedly sent to Zhengzhou Prison, also described as Xinmi Prison; Wang was sent to Henan Women’s Prison.
Earlier and prison-treatment reporting
WOIPFG and Minghui describe earlier detention beginning in the 2000s and allege mistreatment in custody, including beatings, prolonged standing or squatting, sleep deprivation and cold-water punishment. Those allegations remain explicitly source-attributed and have not been independently verified.
Status and evidence limits
Rights Defense Network Issue 131 lists 李树林 among reported current prisoners in its four-year-sentence group as of August 31, 2026. The exact sentence-end date, prison ward and current health are not established. This record is limited to the Luoyang/Jianxi case and excludes several unrelated people with the same romanized name.
