Li Weihong (李卫红 / 李衛紅) was a Changsha worker at the Hunan Provincial Fire-Fighting Equipment General Factory and a defendant in a 1989 prosecution arising from the Changsha April 22 incident.
Case record
Human-rights documentation identifies Li as a Changsha native and factory worker. The surviving sources record a severe first-instance sentence in June 1989 and later prisoner rosters place him at Chishan Penitentiary, then Hunan No. 1 Prison. This proceeding should be kept distinct from other Hunan cases adjudicated during the same period.
Identity
An English-language HRIC list contains the anomalous rendering “Zhou Weihong” in the corresponding roster position. Other evidence consistently identifies the person as Li Weihong / 李卫红, making the English rendering best treated as a probable transcription or typesetting error rather than a separate person.
What remains unknown
No reliable public source located in the research packet establishes Li Weihong’s later sentence history, release, release date, or post-1989 whereabouts. Claims of a 2007 release remain unsupported and are not used here. His current status is therefore unknown.
The exact per-person criminal charge and the specific court have not been established from an original judgment.
