ChinaAid reported that Li was detained June 26, 2025, taken from a hospital while recovering from surgery, and transferred to Pingyang Detention Center. It reported a formal arrest on August 1 on suspicion of “illegal business operation.” Family and lawyer accounts described health and treatment concerns; these remain attributed claims.
A later ChinaAid report said the case was linked, according to his family, to Bible audio players and remained under investigation.

Dui Hua identifies “Pastor Li Yongfeng (李永峰)” and reports detention on June 26 and formal arrest on August 3 for illegal business operation, alongside Pastor Huang Yizi. The August 3 date differs from ChinaAid’s August 1 date.
