Liu Jia (刘嘉)

Liu Jia (刘嘉) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province. Rights Defense Network identifies him as a man born in 1969 and a former senior manager in the third sales department of Ping An Life Insurance’s Chengdu branch.

Rights Defense Network reports earlier punishment for his Falun Gong practice, including a labor-camp term in the early 2000s and a five-and-a-half-year prison sentence following a 2007 arrest.

On January 6, 2022, according to Rights Defense Network, Liu was arrested by Pengzhou police and placed under residential surveillance at a designated location in a Pengzhou hotel. The organization alleges that he was beaten and tortured there. Those treatment allegations remain source-attributed.

Rights Defense Network and WOIPFG both report that the Pengzhou Court sentenced Liu on October 30, 2023 to five years in prison. WOIPFG also reports a 10,000-yuan fine and an appeal. It alleges serious injuries during detention, including a leg fracture and gallbladder inflammation leading to surgery; those claims remain attributed to the monitoring organization.

WOIPFG’s October 5, 2025 notice lists Liu, then 56, among Falun Gong practitioners held at Jiazhou Prison. Rights Defense Network Issue 131, dated August 31, 2026, also lists 刘嘉 among reported prisoners in custody.

Status: reported held at Jiazhou Prison as of October 5, 2025 and listed in custody as of August 31, 2026. Custody is source-reported and not independently confirmed.
