Liu Ruping (刘如平; also reported as 刘汝平)

Liu Ruping (刘如平; also reported as 刘汝平) is a lawyer by training from Jinan City, Shandong Province, and a Falun Gong practitioner.

Recent Minghui reporting uses 刘如平 as the lead form while also recording 刘汝平 as an alternate form. Earlier WOIPFG reporting used 刘汝平. Both character forms refer to the same Jinan/Changqing man, based on matching age, spouse, arrest date, court, and sentence.

According to Minghui and WOIPFG, Liu and his wife Zhang Chenglan (张承兰) were detained on September 29, 2025 during a large police operation in Jinan. The couple were tried at the Changqing District Court on March 13, 2026.

On April 15, 2026, Liu was sentenced to three years and six months in prison and Zhang to three years. Later reporting describes Liu as a former director of the legal research office at the Changqing District Party School and a full-time lawyer at Shuntian Law Firm.

Minghui also reports earlier detention and prison terms involving the couple beginning in the 2000s. Those historical accounts remain source-attributed.

Rights Defense Network Issue 131, dated August 31, 2026, lists both 刘汝平 and 刘如平 in the three-year-six-month group. The two entries are treated here as a duplicate-character variant for one person, not as two separate prisoners.

Status: reported in custody as of August 31, 2026. No later prison transfer or current detention conditions are asserted.
