Liu Shurong (刘书荣) is a retired teacher and Falun Gong practitioner from Longshui Town, Dazu District, Chongqing. Monitoring sources report that he was born in 1944.
According to Rights Defense Network, CHRD’s prisoner database, and Minghui, Liu was detained by Longshui Police Station officers on June 23, 2024, later held at the Dazu District Detention Center, and ultimately transferred to Chongqing Yongchuan Prison.
The sources contain a sentence-length inconsistency. Rights Defense Network’s case-report title and structured sentence information, the CHRD sentence field, Minghui, the stated term through June 22, 2027, and Rights Defense Network Issue 131 support a three-year sentence. Some narrative text in the Rights Defense Network and CHRD records says “two years.” This profile preserves the discrepancy and uses three years as the better-supported reported figure rather than treating the conflicting line as settled.
Minghui reports an earlier history including labor-camp terms and prison sentences in 2006, 2009, and 2015. Those historical accounts, including allegations of mistreatment, remain source-attributed.
Rights Defense Network Issue 131, dated August 31, 2026, lists 刘书荣 in its three-year-sentence group.
Status: reported in custody as of August 31, 2026. The June 22, 2027 term endpoint is a monitoring-source field, not a confirmed future release. The criminal charge was not identified in the sources reviewed.
