Liu Zhu (刘柱), born 1965, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Dagushan Town, Yitong Manchu Autonomous County, Siping City, Jilin Province.
Detention, trial, and sentence
According to a January 2026 report by Minghui.org, an outlet affiliated with Falun Gong that tracks detained practitioners, Liu was seized on March 3, 2025, by domestic-security police from the Yushu City Public Security Bureau, who traveled from neighboring Yushu to Yitong to detain him. He was first held at the Yushu City Detention Center. The case was later sent back to Yitong County, where Liu was transferred to the Yitong County Detention Center, tried by a Yitong court in late December 2025, and sentenced to three years in prison.
Minghui reported that no formal charge was publicly named, and that the reported basis for the sentence was Liu’s purchase and installation of equipment to receive New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV), a Falun Gong-linked broadcaster. No official confirmation of the case has been found.
Liu is independently recorded as 刘柱 in an August 2026 prisoner listing published by 维权网 (Weiquanwang), an independent Chinese-language human-rights site, which places him in its three-year-sentence group — consistent with the sentence reported by Minghui.
Current status
As of the latest dated report (January 2026), Liu remained in custody. Based on a three-year sentence handed down in late December 2025, his release would be expected around 2028; the exact release date has not been confirmed. A case database record computes a different release date (March 2028) from the March 2025 detention date — the two do not agree, and no precise release date is asserted here.
A note on a similar record
A 2005 Minghui report describes a male Liu Zhu in Yitong County, Jilin, given a one-year labor-camp sentence circa 2000. The county matches, but no shared anchors tie the two records together; they are recorded as separate records, not merged.
