Documented identity
Asia Watch reported Long Xiaohu as a 30-year-old cadre who had worked in the Hunan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office and graduated from People’s University. The report also says he was said to be a grandson of Long Yun, the former Guomindang governor of Yunnan; that family claim is single-source and should remain attributed rather than treated as independently verified.
1989–1990 activity
During the 1989 Democracy Movement, Long reportedly performed liaison work for students. After June 4 he left China legally. Asia Watch states that in May 1990 he returned to China at the invitation of the PRC Asian Games Committee to attend the Asian Games opening ceremonies, having received an invitation from the State Physical Education Commission.
Authorities then accused him of concealing four blank passports and nearly HK$100,000 for the purpose of helping student leaders escape.
Administrative detention
Asia Watch reported that Long was arrested on the evening of June 3, 1990 and held at the public-security branch station in Changsha’s Eastern District. He was later secretly sent to two years of re-education through labor.
RTL was administrative detention, not a criminal court conviction.
Evidence limits
The current packet does not establish the RTL decision document, facility, release date, later biography, or present status. The Long Yun family relationship is reported by Asia Watch as a parenthetical claim and remains uncorroborated.
