Ma Huaizhen is a Falun Gong practitioner from Yishui County in Shandong Province who has been reported as serving a five-year prison sentence.
Ma Huaizhen, reported to be 63 years old, was arrested on April 1, 2025 together with her husband Li Yifang, Li Yujuan, and Li Yujuan’s daughter Hui Xiaoli. Officers from the Yishui County Domestic Security Division made the arrests and confiscated personal belongings. The three women were held at the Linyi City Detention Center, while Li Yifang was held at the Yishui County Detention Center.
The four were scheduled to be tried on September 9, 2025 at the Linyi City Detention Center. On January 6, 2026, all four were sentenced to prison. Ma Huaizhen received five years and a 50,000-yuan fine; her husband Li Yifang received one year; Li Yujuan and Hui Xiaoli each received two years and 20,000-yuan fines.
A Falun Gong practitioner of the same name in Yishui County had previously been detained in November 2010 — arrested with Liu Gensong while distributing Falun Gong informational materials and released the following day after police extorted 3,000 yuan from her family — according to Minghui.org reports from that time.
The Rights Defense Network’s Issue 131 custody roster, published August 31, 2026, lists Ma Huaizhen among reported current custody cases.
The charge against Ma Huaizhen and the court that sentenced her were not stated in the reports reviewed. Chinese characters for her name were not confirmed.
