Arrest and sentencing
On August 31, 2017, the Yilan County Public Security Bureau arrested Falun Gong practitioners across Yilan County and Huachuan County; 29 people were detained in the sweep through mid-October, and fourteen were kept in long-term detention, including Shi.
On July 24, 2018, the Yilan County People’s Court tried the group. Shi was sentenced to nine years’ imprisonment and fined 60,000 yuan, according to rights monitors. Her sentence was recorded as running to September 2026.
