Sun Deguo

Sun Deguo is a Falun Gong practitioner from Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province. He has been detained at least twice for distributing Falun Gong materials.

According to Minghui.org, which documents cases of Falun Gong practitioners in China, Sun was arrested in 2020 while distributing Falun Gong fliers. He was held in the Datong District Detention Center and transferred to the Lindian County Detention Center on September 28, 2020, where he was detained for fifteen days.

On January 8, 2022, Sun and another Daqing resident, Dai Zhidong, were arrested after giving out a Falun Gong pamphlet at a gas station in Lindian County. Police searched Sun’s home without a warrant, confiscating his Falun Gong books, computers, and more than 20,000 yuan in cash (an officer later claimed only 10,000 yuan was taken). Two of Sun’s roommates, Sun Wenzhong and Zhang Liguo, were arrested the same day. All four men were released on bail after each paid a 10,000-yuan bond.

Sun Wenzhong — a different person from Sun Deguo — was later sentenced to three and a half years in prison in August 2022. No sentence or further proceedings against Sun Deguo are documented.
