Sun Jinhui (孙锦辉) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Tai’an City, Shandong Province. She owned a photography studio in Taishan District. Between 2018 and 2022 she was twice arrested for distributing or displaying Falun Gong materials, and twice sentenced to prison by Shandong courts, according to Minghui.org.
First case (2018–2021)
On June 12, 2018, police saw a calendar carrying information about Falun Gong in her photography studio. They confiscated the calendar, searched the studio, and took four printers, cameras, two mobile phones, a computer used for her business, and Falun Gong-related materials. Although she failed the detention-center physical examination, police kept her in the Tai’an City Detention Center for a month before releasing her on 5,000 yuan bail, according to Minghui.
In late May 2019 police submitted her case to the Feicheng City Procuratorate. She left home on June 17 to avoid detention. When she returned home for the 2021 Lunar New Year, officers arrested her on February 9. On September 22, 2021, the Feicheng City Court sentenced her to two years and two months in prison and fined her 10,000 yuan. She appealed; the Tai’an Intermediate Court upheld the verdict on October 25, 2021. She was denied admission to the detention center on health grounds and placed under residential surveillance.
Second case (2021–2022)
On December 10, 2021, officers of the Taishan District Police Department arrested her while she was distributing desk calendars printed with information about Falun Gong. The Taishan District Procuratorate filed charges. She was later placed under residential surveillance.
Minghui reports that the Taishan District Court held a hearing on July 20, 2022, and sentenced her to five years and two months in prison with a 20,000-yuan fine. She appealed; the Tai’an Intermediate Court upheld the verdict on September 5, 2022. Because of poor health she remained under house arrest rather than being taken into custody.
On September 22, 2022, police arrested her at home and took her for a detention-center entry physical examination. Minghui reports that she was taken to the Xintai City Detention Center but released later that afternoon after the examination result.
Current status
Her whereabouts and custody status after September 2022 are not confirmed by available sources. This profile does not infer that she served either sentence in prison after that date.
