On May 17, 2022, officers from the Longfeng Police Station arrested Sun Wenwen while she was speaking to people about Falun Gong at the Cigou farmers’ market in Dongzhou District. Minghui reports that police raided her home the same day and confiscated Falun Gong books. She was released on bail after her family paid an 8,000-yuan bail bond.
Police continued to pursue the case. She was indicted on August 8, 2022. After learning that she was scheduled to appear in the Dongzhou District Court on September 15, she left home to evade arrest. She was later detained at the Nangou Detention Center.
Minghui reports that the Dongzhou District Court sentenced Sun to four years in prison with a 16,000-yuan fine in May 2023.
