Tian Lili (田丽丽) — Political Prisoner Profile

Tian Lili (田丽丽) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Fushun City, Liaoning Province. Born in 1980, she worked as a temporary worker in a supermarket and had been detained once before for her beliefs: a 2019 report records that she was sentenced to one and a half years and released in February 2020.

On the morning of January 26, 2024, police from the Xinfu District public security sub-bureau took Tian away from the supermarket where she worked and brought her to the Qianjin police station, according to a report by the Chinese-language outlet Minghui. The same account says that during a forced medical examination a doctor drew her blood over her resistance, causing her to faint, and that she was subsequently held at the Fushun City detention center. When family members asked officers why she had been taken, an officer reportedly said she was on a “wanted” list — a claim the family disputed, noting she had never left Fushun and had received no prior notice.

About two months later, without the investigating officers conducting any recorded interrogation, prosecutors in Dongzhou District approved her arrest, the report says. On June 21, 2024, Tian was tried at the Fushun City Nanguo detention facility; the courtroom account describes the prosecution reading out material compiled by police from two stations and a prosecutor asking the court to impose a four-year sentence. Tian stated in court that she had broken no law, and her lawyer argued that her actions involved no criminal offense.

The court in Dongzhou District subsequently sentenced Tian Lili to four years in prison and imposed a fine of 16,000 yuan, according to the CHRD political-prisoner database and the Minghui report. The database records her term as running through January 25, 2028, and does not identify a specific facility or charge. The Minghui report says she filed an appeal; the outcome of that appeal is not known.

Tian’s family has paid a heavy price around her case: her mother died in January 2022 while pressing for her release, and her husband was pressured into divorcing her in 2021, according to the same reporting. As of October 2026, no independent confirmation of her current location or status was available, and nothing here should be read as confirming where she is now.
