Background
Tian Xiuzhen (田秀贞) is a woman from Weifang, Shandong Province, born in April 1964, who is serving a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence. According to case records from the Chinese Human Rights Defenders (CHRD) Prisoners of Conscience database and the independent outlet Minghui, she is a Falun Gong practitioner who has been detained twice for her beliefs — most recently in late 2025. Her family is from Weizi Town in Changyi City, Weifang, and she worked in Weifang city for many years. The records describe her as beginning to practice Falun Gong in 2002. In 2006, she was detained for telling members of the public about Falun Gong and was sent to one year and six months of “re-education through labor” at the Shandong No. 2 Women’s Labor Camp.
The 2025 detention and sentence
On December 15, 2025, police from the Weifang Public Security Bureau’s State Security (国保) unit detained Tian Xiuzhen, and she was taken to the Weifang Detention Center. Her sentence runs through June 14, 2029. On June 23, 2026, she was transferred to the Shandong Provincial Women’s Prison to serve her sentence.
