Case chronology
- April 12, 2024: Wang Junheng and fellow practitioner Wang Huawei accompanied the two daughters of detained practitioner Yin Minghua to a coastal police station in Muping to request her release. According to the case report, Wang explained the relevant laws to the deputy police chief and instructor present; police instead detained all four. Wang was held at the Muping District Detention Center, where he refused to wear a prisoner uniform and went on a hunger strike. He was subjected to force-feeding and was beaten by inmates, according to the report, and returned home with a broken rib confirmed by hospital examination.
- April 7, 2025: Wang Junheng was detained by police while speaking to people about Falun Gong. He was taken to the Muping Detention Center, criminally detained, and later arrested with the approval of the Muping District Procuratorate, according to the case record.
- Around September 20, 2025: After more than five months in detention, Wang was sentenced to one year and six months by the local public-security/procuratorial/court authorities; the detailed proceedings were not made public. The charge was not publicly identified. He was then transferred to Jinan Prison.
- August 31, 2026: The Rights Defense Network’s monthly report on political prisoners and prisoners of conscience in custody lists Wang Junheng among mainland China’s detained prisoners, in the cohort sentenced to two years or less.
