Wang Minghui (王明慧), born 1968, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Mingshan District, Ya’an City, Sichuan Province. On September 26, 2021, the Mingshan District Court sentenced her to seven years and four months in prison, with a fine of 10,000 yuan. She is serving her sentence at the Sichuan Provincial Women’s Prison in Longquanyi, Chengdu; her term is recorded as ending December 28, 2027.
Background
According to reporting by the Falun Gong-affiliated outlet Minghui, Wang, then 44, ran a small restaurant with her husband in Mingshan. On the evening of August 29, 2020, she was detained by domestic-security police of the Mingshan District Public Security Bureau while walking on the road; officers then entered and searched her home. On September 18, 2020, her family was notified to sign an arrest warrant. She was held at the Tianquan County Detention Center in Ya’an.
Trial and sentencing
Minghui reported that the Mingshan District Court tried Wang’s case twice: a first trial in January 2021 with a court-appointed lawyer, and a second on July 16, 2021. On September 26, 2021, the court sentenced her to seven years and four months in prison and imposed a 10,000-yuan fine. The specific criminal charge was not reported. Wang maintained her innocence and appealed to the Ya’an Intermediate Court; the outcome of the appeal has not been publicly reported.
On June 15, 2022, she was transferred from the Tianquan County Detention Center to the Sichuan Provincial Women’s Prison (Chengdu Longquanyi Women’s Prison). Her sentence is recorded as running through December 28, 2027.

Rights Defense Network’s monthly report on political prisoners and prisoners of conscience in custody in mainland China, Issue 131 (August 31, 2026), lists Wang Minghui in its statistical group of prisoners “sentenced to 7 years and 4 months,” classifying the 1,638-name roster as in custody at that date. As her recorded term ends December 28, 2027, she remains in custody as of this writing.
