Wang Qing (王清) – Political Prisoner Profile

Wang Qing (王清), born May 17, 1982, is a citizens’ rights activist from Henan Province known for government-information-disclosure requests and consumer-rights complaints.

According to the Prisoners of Conscience Data project, Wang was detained on September 19, 2018 by police in Wolong District, Nanyang, on suspicion of extortion. He was tried with Chen Qiang, Wang Jucai, and Han Meng at the Wolong District Court on September 6, 2019 and sentenced to fourteen years. His appeal was rejected by the Nanyang Intermediate Court on April 10, 2020. His term is recorded as running to September 18, 2032.

ChinaAid later characterized the prosecution as part of the nationwide anti-gang campaign and disputed the evidentiary basis of the convictions. That characterization is attributed to ChinaAid; the official judgment was not located for independent review.
