Wang Shilie (王世烈)

Wang Shilie is a Falun Gong practitioner in Qinzhou District, Tianshui City, Gansu Province, reported to have been sentenced to two years in prison.

In late December 2024, officers from the State Security division of the Tianshui City Public Security Bureau’s Qinzhou branch detained Wang at his home and searched the residence, confiscating his computer, cell phone, and Falun Gong books, according to Minghui. He was placed in the Qinzhou District Detention Center, and his family was not allowed to visit him.

Wang was prosecuted together with four others: fellow Falun Gong practitioners Liu Qiye, Ma Xiaojuan, and Yang Tanguo, and Liu Qiye’s husband, who does not practice Falun Gong. The Qinzhou District procuratorate twice returned the case to the police for insufficient evidence, Minghui reports. Their families were not notified of the trial and only learned in July 2026 that the Qinzhou District Court had sentenced Wang and Yang Tanguo to two years each, Liu Qiye to three years and two months, her husband to one and a half years, and Ma Xiaojuan to one year and eight months. Fines were imposed in unspecified amounts.

The Rights Defense Network’s monthly report on political prisoners and prisoners of conscience (August 31, 2026, Issue 131) lists Wang Shilie as a prisoner in custody, in the two-year sentence group. A prisoner-of-conscience database entry records the two-year sentence with the term running through December 2026.

This profile is compiled from reporting by Minghui and the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong, corroborated for custody status by the Rights Defense Network’s monthly monitoring report. Claims about the circumstances of Wang’s detention are attributed to those sources. No official court judgment has been located.
