Case chronology
- July 9, 2020 — Wang Yuhong and seven other Lindian County practitioners are detained by more than 50 plainclothes officers in an operation directed by the Heilongjiang Provincial Public Security Department. One child detained with them is released the same day.
- August 16, 2020 — The six adult practitioners are transferred to the Daqing City No. 2 Detention Center.
- November 18, 2020 — They are indicted to the Ranghulu District Court.
- December 15, 2020 — Remote video trial at the Ranghulu District Court.
- December 23, 2020 — Sentences: Wang Yuhong and Lu Chaobo, seven years and a 70,000-yuan fine; Zhang Wansheng, six years; Xue Liwei and Chen Weibo, four years each; Dong Na, three and a half years.
- April 2, 2021 — The Daqing City Intermediate People’s Court rejects the appeal and upholds the sentences.
- August 2021 — The intermediate court again upholds Wang’s sentence after a family retrial petition.
- September 14, 2021 — Wang is transferred to the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison. Scheduled release: July 8, 2027.
- August 31, 2026 — Wang is listed among currently detained prisoners in the rights-defense roster, in the seven-year sentence band.
