Source provenance

Minghui (minghui.org) is a Falun Gong-affiliated outlet that publishes practitioner-submitted reports on the detention and prosecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. It is a partisan source: its reports present detentions as persecution and reflect the Falun Gong community’s perspective. Factual claims in the two articles below should be read as reported by that community, not as independently verified findings.

The Rights Defense Network (维权网) monthly report is a systematic roster published monthly; Issue 131 lists 1,638 reported current-custody political prisoners grouped by sentence length.

Chronological media record

1999–2000 — first detentions. Minghui reports that Mr. Wang, a native of Hejiang County, Sichuan, who took up Falun Gong in 1997, was arrested and detained for more than ten days about two months after the suppression began in July 1999, and was arrested again in early May 2000.

2003 — two-year labor-camp term. For making informational materials about Falun Gong, he was arrested in March 2003 by Chishui City police and given two years at the Guizhou Province Men’s Forced Labor Camp; Minghui reports guards ordered inmates to beat him until he lost consciousness. Released a year early.

2005–2008 — three-year labor-camp term. Arrested in the winter of 2005 by Chishui and Hejiang police; held at the Chishui City Detention Center, where Minghui reports guards tied him to a tree and whipped him with a leather belt. Taken to the Guizhou Province Men’s Forced Labor Camp in March 2006 for a three-year term. On May 16, 2007, guards attempting to force him to renounce Falun Gong beat him and poured a kettle of boiling water over him, according to Minghui; he was hospitalized for two months with severe burns. Released November 2008.

2012–2014 — three-year-seven-month prison term. Arrested June 7, 2012, in Luzhou City for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong; held at the Naxi District Detention Center; the Naxi District Court heard the case January 10, 2014; family confirmed in late July 2014 that he had been sentenced to three years and seven months; transferred to Jiazhou Prison November 5, 2014.

August 9, 2023 — fourth arrest. A Minghui report states that Mr. Wang and Ms. Liu Junmao were arrested in Chishui after being reported for talking to fellow guests about Falun Gong at a banquet. Both were taken to the Chishui City Police Station, then transferred to detention centers in Zunyi — Mr. Wang to the Zunyi City No. 3 Detention Center.

Late December 2023 — three-year-three-month sentence. The Zunyi court convicted both: Ms. Liu received three and a half years and Mr. Wang three years and three months. Both appealed through lawyers.

August 31, 2026 — roster classification. The Rights Defense Network’s Issue 131 monthly report lists 汪泽宣 in its 判刑3年3个月 (sentenced to 3 years and 3 months, 12 people) group.
