Wang Zhengyong (王正勇) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, serving a seven-year prison sentence for her faith. A property-management employee, she began practicing Falun Gong in March 1998 and credits the practice with resolving severe stomach problems, rhinitis, gynecological inflammation, breast lobular hyperplasia, and other illnesses.
Wang was targeted repeatedly after the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999. In December 2001, her employer, the Daqing Petroleum Administration Housing Construction and Development Company, withheld several thousand yuan of her pay because she refused to renounce her faith. On October 22, 2015, officers from the Donghu Police Department arrested her at work and took her to the Daqing City First Detention Center; after the local procuratorate urged her release on bail for medical reasons, police extorted 20,000 yuan as bail money and released her on November 27, 2015.
More than 30 Falun Gong practitioners were arrested in a police sweep on May 18, 2023, including Wang. Her home was raided and her Falun Gong books confiscated. She was released on bail five hours later. Officers from the Donghu Police Department took her back into custody on May 19, 2024, when her one-year bail period ended.
The Ranghulu District Court held a secret virtual hearing of her case in late September 2024 without notifying her family. Prosecutor Feng Guang of the Ranghulu District Procuratorate was present; the family still does not know who the presiding judge was. She was sentenced to seven years in prison and fined 50,000 yuan in late 2024. She appealed, and the Daqing City Intermediate Court ruled in late April 2025 to uphold the verdict. At the end of July 2025, she was admitted to the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison.
As of the latest reporting (September 2025), she was being held at the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison. No release has been reported; her present status has not been independently verified.
