Xu Yafen (徐亚芬) — Person Profile

Xu Yafen (徐亚芬) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Nongan County, Changchun City, Jilin Province. In 2024 she was sentenced to 12 years in prison — among the heaviest terms handed to Falun Gong practitioners reported that year — in a group case involving three practitioners. The Rights Defense Network’s (维权网) monthly political-prisoners report (Issue 131, August 31, 2026) lists her in its 12-year-sentence band, confirming she remains in custody serving her term as of that date.

The case

The three — Su Xiufu (苏修福, about 59), Xu Yafen, and Yin Guiying (尹桂英, in her 70s) — were arrested on August 24, 2022, after police had monitored them for more than six months. Su Xiufu received 13 years; Xu Yafen and Yin Guiying each received 12 years, according to reporting by Minghui.org. The formal criminal charge, the court that tried the case, and the trial date have not been publicly documented.

Status and evidentiary limits

As of August 31, 2026, the Rights Defense Network’s Issue 131 monthly report records 徐亚芬 in its 12-year sentence aggregate, in custody. A 12-year term reported in 2024 would run into the mid-2030s, but no exact release date has been published, and the prison where she is serving her sentence has not been publicly named. Her age has not been reported. Procedural and identity claims rest on practitioner reporting (Minghui.org) and are presented as reported; no PRC official or state-media coverage of this case has been found. Her identity should not be confused with a same-name practitioner from Taicang City, Jiangsu Province, who received a separate 3-year sentence in 2019 — a different person.
