Xu Yamei (徐亚梅) — Person Profile
Xu Yamei (徐亚梅) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Qujing City, Yunnan Province. On April 19, 2024, the Qilin District Court sentenced her to four years in prison with an 8,000-yuan fine, in a joint trial of four practitioners. It was her second prison sentence: she had previously served a 3-year term following an arrest in June 2017 and was released in June 2020. The Rights Defense Network’s (维权网) monthly political-prisoners report (Issue 131, August 31, 2026) lists her in its 4-year-sentence band, confirming she remains in custody serving her term as of that date.
The case
Xu, 38 at the time of sentencing, was arrested on July 11, 2023, together with Li Hongmei (李红梅, 45), Chen Zhongcun (陈忠村, in his 60s), and Feng Zhixian (冯枝仙), by officers of the Qilin District Police Department. She was held at the Qilin District Detention Center. The four stood trial jointly on March 19, 2024; according to the case report, the court first found the evidence insufficient, but after the procuratorate had police gather additional material, a second hearing on April 7, 2024, led to convictions on April 19: Li Hongmei received five years, Xu Yamei four years, and Chen Zhongcun and Feng Zhixian two years each. The formal criminal charge has not been publicly documented.
Earlier targeting
Xu Yamei had previously served a 3-year prison term following an arrest in June 2017 and was released in June 2020, per case reporting.
