Xu Zengchen (徐增臣) — Person Profile
Xu Zengchen (徐增臣), a man from Liaoyang County in Liaoning Province, was about 76 years old when his most recent case was reported. He is serving a four-year prison sentence. The Rights Defense Network’s (维权网) monthly political-prisoners report (Issue 131, August 31, 2026) lists him in its 4-year-sentence band, confirming he remains in custody serving his term as of that date.
The case
According to Minghui, Xu was arrested at his home on August 30, 2024, by officers of the Bahui police station after police learned he had distributed informational materials about Falun Gong. He was held at the Liaoyang County Detention Center. The Dengta City Court later sentenced him to four years in prison; the date of sentencing was not reported. He was first admitted to Panjin Prison and later transferred to another prison in Liaoyang City, without his family being told the new prison’s name or location. According to insiders cited in the report, he has lost the vision in his right eye and walks leaning to one side.
Earlier targeting
This was not his first punishment in connection with his beliefs. In 2001 he was sent to the Liaoyang City Labor Camp, where he was reported to have been beaten, deprived of sleep, and subjected to forced labor. He was arrested again on May 5, 2005, after being reported for speaking to people about Falun Gong, and on December 8, 2013, when the Longchang Town police detained him. In 2014 the Liaoyang County Court sentenced him to four years, which he served at the Shenyang Prison Complex, where he was reported to have been held in solitary confinement and at one point to have lost consciousness.
Status and evidentiary limits
As of August 31, 2026, Xu Zengchen was recorded as in custody serving a four-year sentence.
