杨志华 (Yang Zhihua)
杨志华 (Yang Zhihua), born in 1969, is a resident of Xicaogu Village, Sizhilan Town, Ningjin County, Xingtai City, Hebei Province. For more than thirty years he operated a flour mill in his home village. He began practicing Falun Gong in the 1990s.
In August 2025, street surveillance cameras in Jinzhou City recorded a person on a motorcycle putting up Falun Gong slogans. Police traced the motorcycle and, on September 6, 2025, officers raided Yang’s home. He was not there; his wife and son were briefly detained and released on September 16.
On September 8, 2025, Yang was taken into custody by Sizhilan Township police and, two days later, moved to the Shijiazhuang No. 2 Detention Center. His case was forwarded through the Jinzhou City Procuratorate to the Jinzhou City Court.
On January 28, 2026, the Jinzhou City Court tried Yang’s case. According to the case report, his lawyer argued that no current Chinese law designates Falun Gong as unlawful and that citizens’ possession of Falun Gong materials is lawful activity.
In April 2026, Yang was sentenced to one year and six months in prison. The available sources do not state the charge under which he was convicted. He was moved from the detention center to prison in mid-April 2026: one source records the transfer to Shijiazhuang Prison on April 16, while the Minghui case report states he was moved to Jidong Prison (冀东监狱) on April 17. The two sources disagree on the facility; both agree on the timing. His prison term is recorded as ending on March 7, 2027.
As of August 31, 2026, Yang was listed among in-custody political prisoners in the under-two-year sentence group. His exact current facility has not been independently confirmed.
