Yi Jiahai (易家海) — retired principal of Wanyi Elementary School, Chengmagang Township, Macheng City, Hubei; Falun Gong practitioner; sentenced to 4 years in October 2014 and to 9 years in early 2023; admitted to the Shayang Prison Group on June 14, 2023; listed in the Issue 131 roster (August 31, 2026) in the “sentenced to 9 years” group, classified as currently in custody. Trial and indictment details for the 2023 sentence have not been independently documented.
Identification method
The Issue 131 roster’s English edition lists “Yi Jiahai” 36th in its “Sentenced to 9 years, 48 people” group, between Lang Dongyue and Wang Hong (Chongqing). The report’s Chinese edition lists “…郎东月、易家海、王红（重庆）、田丽莎…” in the same order in its “判刑9年，48人” section. 易家海 occupies the “Yi Jiahai” position. Minghui.org’s 2023 case report then confirmed the equation independently: “Mr. Yi Jiahai,” a retired elementary school principal from Macheng City, “sentenced to a nine-year prison term” in early 2023 — the same name and the same sentence length. Do not merge with Yan Yingzhong (闫英忠, co-defendant — different person).
Source chronology
- October 15, 2013 — first arrest. Officers entered Yi’s home, confiscated computers and belongings, and took him to the Macheng Detention Center. (Minghui, December 2013.)
- October 23, 2014 — first sentence. The Macheng City Court sentenced Yi to four years; he was admitted to Fanjiatai Prison two months later. (Minghui, 2013/2015 reports.)
- November 6, 2021 — second arrest. Yi was seized from his home and taken to the Macheng City First Detention Center, along with Yan Yingzhong. (Minghui, 2023.)
- Early 2023 — second sentence. Yi was sentenced to nine years; Yan Yingzhong to eight years. Both were admitted to the Shayang Prison Group on June 14, 2023; indictment/trial details remain under investigation per Minghui.
- August 31, 2026 — Issue 131 roster. The Rights Defense Network lists “Yi Jiahai” / 易家海 in its “sentenced to 9 years” group of 48 and classifies its entries as political prisoners and prisoners of conscience currently in custody.
Source grading
- Minghui.org (August 1, 2023 case report) — Falun Gong-affiliated outlet; the primary case source. The 9-year sentence it reports matches the roster’s 9-year group independently.
- Minghui.org (December 2013; January 2015 roundup) — same outlet; primary for the 2013–2014 case.
- Issue 131 report (Chinese + English) — the roster source; strong for the listing (name position, 9-year group, in-custody classification as of August 31, 2026).
Conflicts and caveats
- Minghui’s 2023 report says “Macheng City, Hebei Province,” but Macheng City is in Huanggang, Hubei Province — and Minghui’s own 2013 report correctly says Hubei. This is recorded as an apparent typo in the 2023 article.
- The specific criminal charge and the trial court for the 2023 nine-year sentence are not documented. Nothing is asserted about the charge.
- Which of the Shayang Prison Group’s ten prisons holds Yi is unknown.
Evidentiary limits
No court judgment, indictment, or official record for either case was located; the entire case narrative rests on Minghui’s reporting. No PRC official statement on this person was found.
