Yi Xiangyang / 伊向阳 — Media Profile & Archive

This archive preserves the reporting record on the case of Yi Xiangyang (伊向阳, also rendered 尹向阳 / Yin Xiangyang), the 76-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Longkou City, Shandong Province, sentenced to five and a half years’ imprisonment in 2025. It supports Yi Xiangyang (伊向阳).

Reporting chronology

2011 — Long persecution history documented. A Minghui Chinese report (September 21, 2011) documenting persecuted Falun Gong practitioners in Longkou covers 尹向阳 in Liujia Village, recording his earlier detention history and his transfer to Shandong Province Prison in May 2005. The 2025 Minghui Chinese report explicitly identifies 伊向阳(尹向阳) as one person, linking these records.

2014 — Shen Yun DVD arrest. Minghui English (May 11, 2014) reports Yi’s arrest at age 65 as one of sixty practitioners arrested for distributing Shen Yun DVDs.

March 2025 — Arrest and prosecution. Minghui English (March 17, 2025) reports that after ten years behind bars across two previous terms, Yi — now around 76 — faced prosecution again. A March 2025 persecution-news roundup records “Mr. Yi Xiangyang Arrested” on March 5, 2025, at the Xinjia Farmers’ Market, and his hunger strike. A May 2025 statistical summary confirms the March 5 arrest as his nineteenth since 1999 and recaps his prior terms (October 2004–October 2009; August 2014–August 2019).

June 2025 — Sentencing. The Minghui Chinese report of June 13, 2025 gives the fullest account: the five-and-a-half-year sentence, the case timeline, prior terms, torture history, and his wife Wu Manping. The English edition (June 16, 2025) notes he is “also known as Yin Xiangyang” and records the June 11, 2025 transfer to Shandong Province Men’s Prison. The Falun Dafa Information Center (June 19, 2025) independently corroborates the sentencing, citing Minghui and the Rights Defense Network.

Source provenance

All narrative reporting comes from the Falun Gong press ecosystem (Minghui in Chinese and English; the Falun Dafa Information Center). These are advocacy outlets with a declared viewpoint; their case facts are preserved here as attributed reporting. The sentencing itself is independently corroborated by the Rights Defense Network’s monthly prisoner roster (Issue 131, August 31, 2026), a monitoring organization, which lists Yi Xiangyang among prisoners sentenced to five years and six months. No PRC court record, state-media account, or consular record for this case was located. No contradictions were found between the sources on the material facts.

Evidence gaps

No source gave the exact sentencing date, the statutory charge, or an official court document. The sentence-length band of five years and six months is consistent across both source classes. The earliest continuous record begins in 2011; earlier detentions are known only through the sources’ own counts.
