Zhang Aimin
Zhang Aimin (张爱民) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Wuhan, in China’s Hubei Province, who was taken into extrajudicial detention twice in 2004 for his religious practice.
Zhang lived with his wife, Liu Lin, on Huaqiao Street in Wuhan’s Jiangan District. According to a December 2004 report by Minghui, an outlet that documents the treatment of Falun Gong practitioners, Zhang was first taken to the Jiangan District brainwashing class run by the local 610 Office — an extrajudicial security body — on July 8, 2004.
On November 18, 2004, officers came to the couple’s home, seized Zhang and Liu Lin, and took them to the same brainwashing class in Chenjiaji, according to the same report. The report states that the November detention was planned by Li Yingjie, then head of the Jiangan District 610 Office.
No court proceeding, formal charge, or sentence against Zhang Aimin has been documented in publicly available sources. His circumstances after November 2004 are not publicly known.
