Zhang Sifeng / 张思锋
Zhang Sifeng (张思锋， also recorded as 张思峰） is a Falun Gong practitioner from Wuhan, in his seventies, who has been detained repeatedly since the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999. He was most recently detained in May 2024 and sentenced to four years in prison in early 2025.
Background
Zhang, born in the early-to-mid 1950s, lived in the Jianqiao Street community of Wuhan’s Hanyang District and worked for the Wuhan Huayuan Power Engineering Company (Huayuan Power Group). According to Falun Gong case archives, he was first detained in 2000 after traveling to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and was held in a series of “transformation-through-education” brainwashing centers in Hubei. He served two one-year terms of re-education through labor — in 2001 and again in 2007 — and was detained in brainwashing centers in Tangxunhu, Taojialing, Yangyuan, and Chenjiaji on multiple occasions between 2002 and 2010.
The 2024 detention and 2025 sentence
On May 12, 2024, Zhang was detained by police from the Jianghan Branch of the Wuhan Public Security Bureau. He was held successively in the Jianghan District detention center and the Jianghan and Hanyang district detention centers. In late January 2025, the Wuhan Hanyang District Court sentenced him to four years in prison. The formal charge and his current place of detention are not publicly recorded. The CHRD Prisoners of Conscience database records his four-year term as running to May 11, 2028.
Current status
Zhang Sifeng is currently imprisoned, serving a four-year sentence expected to run to May 11, 2028. He appeared in the August 31, 2026 monthly roster of mainland political prisoners maintained by the Chinese-language rights monitoring network 维权网， which lists him among those sentenced to four years and reported in custody. No official court verdict or state-media coverage of his case has been located; the case record rests on the CHRD Prisoners of Conscience database entry and the Falun Gong–affiliated case archive.
Zhang Sifeng should not be confused with Qin Sifeng (秦思锋）, a different person with a different family name.
