Media and document record — Zhang Yujin (张玉锦)
This archive preserves the dated media and document record for Zhang Yujin (张玉锦), the retired Shenyang university professor sentenced to four years and six months in prison in 2024, in chronological order. Each entry states what the source establishes and where it is limited.
September 2023–February 2024 — case chronology compiled
Chinese Human Rights Defenders (CHRD), Prisoners of Conscience database — Zhang Yujin (张玉锦) record (record entered May 11, 2024). The database record identifies Zhang as a woman born in 1945, from Shenyang, a retired associate professor of the Shenyang University of Technology and a Falun Gong practitioner. It states that she was taken from her home by police on September 20, 2023 and held in the Shenyang No. 1 Detention Center, then criminally detained, approved for arrest, and prosecuted; that the Dadong District Court of Shenyang tried her case on February 28, 2024; and that she was sentenced to four years and six months, the charge and the place of custody unreported, with the term ending March 19, 2028. The record cites the Minghui report below as its source.
April 2024 — trial and sentencing reported
Minghui, “沈阳法轮功学员于桂春、李咏梅、张玉锦被非法判刑” (April 3, 2024). The Minghui correspondent’s report states that Yu Guichun (72), Li Yongmei, and Zhang Yujin (79, a retired associate professor of the Shenyang University of Technology) were tried together on February 28, 2024 by the Dadong District Court of Shenyang. Yu was sentenced to eight years, Li to five, and Zhang to four and a half. It reports that Zhang was arrested at her home on September 20, 2023; that the three women had been followed for about six months before the arrests; that the February 28 trial lasted 90 minutes with court-appointed public-interest lawyers and family members present; and that Zhang refused the appointed lawyer and defended Falun Gong herself before being stopped by the judge. No verdict was announced at the trial.
April 2024 — English-language account
Minghui (English), “Three Liaoning Women Sentenced From 4.5 to 8 Years for Practicing Falun Gong” (April 6, 2024). The English edition’s account of the same case. (The full Chinese text was read for the record above.)
August 2026 — current-custody listing
Rights Defense Network, Issue 131 monthly report (August 31, 2026). The report lists 张玉锦 / Zhang Yujin in its 判刑4年 (sentenced to four years) group of prisoners reported as currently in custody. The listing is a roster classification, not a court document; the case-specific sources (CHRD and Minghui) agree on four years and six months, which is the figure used in this profile.
What this archive does not contain
No court judgment, indictment text, or state-media account of this case has been located. The formal charge and the place of detention are unknown. Nothing here establishes her present health or conditions beyond the dated custody listings. Yu Guichun (于桂春), a co-defendant in the same trial, has a separately published profile on this site; the two cases are documented together in the sources above but are separate individual records.
