Evidentiary notes and limitations
- No official court verdict, indictment, or PRC state-media report for Zhang Zhenyi’s case was located; the specific charge was not disclosed in the available record.
- The detailed case narrative rests on Minghui (Chinese and English editions) and the CHRD Prisoners of Conscience record, which cites the Minghui Chinese article. Characterizations of the proceedings in those sources (e.g., “unlawful”) are the sources’ characterizations, not independently verified findings.
- No conflicting identity records were found: the CHRD database contains exactly one record for 张贞一, and variant-character searches (张振义, 张祯一, 张贞义) returned zero records.
- Live site check (October 10, 2026): the only existing mentions of 张贞一 on FreeChina.live are passing references in the Xu Zongping profile pair (a neighboring name in the same Issue 131 sentence band). No dedicated profile or archive page exists.
- A faluninfo.net article appears in search results and seems to corroborate the prison admission, but it was not opened; flagged for publisher click-verification before citation.
