Zhao Caixia (赵彩霞) — Retired Worker from Harbin, Heilongjiang
Zhao Caixia (赵彩霞) is a retired factory worker from Acheng District, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. Born in 1952, she worked at the Harbin Acheng Textile Printing and Dyeing Factory, where she served as deputy chief of the quality-inspection section, before retirement. She began practicing Falun Gong in 2005.
On April 25, 2025, Zhao was detained with her younger sister at Harbin railway station’s waiting hall during a police identity check, according to a Minghui report dated October 2, 2025. Police found Falun Gong-related materials described as “truth coins” in their luggage; both women were taken to the station police office and their homes were searched. Zhao was placed under criminal detention at Harbin’s Second Detention Center; her sister was held for 15 days.
On July 28, 2025, her case was transferred to the Harbin Railway Transport Procuratorate, and in late August she was indicted to the Harbin Railway Transport Court. She stood trial on September 16, 2025; her family-hired lawyer entered a not-guilty plea, and the prosecutor recommended a sentence of two and a half to three and a half years. The court sentenced her to two years and six months in prison with a 2,000-yuan fine. The charge was not specified in the available sources. These procedural details come from Minghui, a Falun Gong-run outlet, and could not be independently verified.
The Prisoners of Conscience database of Chinese Human Rights Defenders (CHRD) lists Zhao Caixia (赵彩霞) with a 2-year-6-month sentence and a sentence term ending October 24, 2027, consistent with the Minghui account.
The Minghui report states that Zhao’s husband and daughter are both ill and unable to care for themselves, and that Zhao was their primary caregiver. This account is attributed to Minghui and has not been independently verified.
