Zhong Liena (钟列娜)

Zhong Liena (钟列娜) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Rongcheng District, Jieyang City, Guangdong Province, and a documented mainland China political prisoner. She began practicing Falun Gong in 1998 and was repeatedly detained and punished for her practice over the following two decades.

According to the Chinese Political Prisoner Database (CHRD) and a case report by Minghui, Zhong, then over 70 years old, was arrested in November 2022 while visiting fellow practitioner Wu Rongduan’s home. She was taken by police from the Ronghua police station in Rongcheng District and held at the Jieyang City detention center. In late September 2023, her family was told by the detention center that she had been sentenced to four years in prison. Her exact charge has not been publicly reported; she is reported to have appealed the verdict to the Jieyang City Intermediate People’s Court.

Zhong has a long history of prior punishment for her practice. Per Minghui: she was detained in January 2000 and again in June 2000, then twice sent to labor re-education (Sanshui women’s labor camp). In 2004 she was sentenced to four years and held at Guangdong Women’s Prison. In June 2017 she was arrested at a market in Jiedong District while distributing Falun Gong materials and sentenced to four and a half years by the Jiedong District court, held at the same prison.

Status: Reported serving a four-year sentence with a term ending in November 2026. The charge and detention location for the current sentence have not been publicly reported. Current status is as documented at the time of the cited sources; any change should be verified against fresh reporting.

Arrest, sentencing, detention-location, and prior-punishment details are sourced to Minghui (a Falun Gong-affiliated outlet) and the CHRD database entry; the exact charge remains unreported.
