This archive preserves the documented media and organizational records for Zhou Hongliang (周洪亮), a Falun Gong practitioner from Suizhou, Hubei, sentenced to three years and six months following his March 2023 arrest. The exact charge of record is unknown.
Case record: the March 2023 arrest
On April 29, 2024, Minghui, a Falun Gong-affiliated outlet, reported that 周洪亮, a Falun Gong practitioner living in the Houli residential area of the Tieshu community in Xicheng, Zengdu District, Suizhou, was arrested on the afternoon of March 10, 2023 at the shopping mall where he worked. According to the report, four plainclothes and one uniformed police officer seized him, took him home for a home search that lasted into the evening, and then took him away. The report states that when he refused to be taken, saying he needed to care for his 80-year-old mother who could not care for herself, officers beat him with a belt and with fists and kicks. Neighbors who witnessed the scene were quoted as saying he was a good person who should not have been treated that way.
Case record: detention, trial, sentence
Minghui reported that Zhou Hongliang was held in the Suizhou Detention Center, was prosecuted, and was tried around September 4, 2023, with details pending; by the time of the April 2024 article, he had been held for one year and one month and had been transferred to Shayang Prison on April 19, 2024, with his sentence length still unreported. The Chinese Human Rights Defenders political-prisoner database (record entered June 17, 2024) subsequently records his sentence as 3年6个月 (“3 years 6 months”), the term ending September 9, 2026, and his location as Shayang Prison (湖北沙洋监狱) — with the charge listed as unknown.
Roster records: 维权网 Issue 131; CHRD prisoner database
The Rights Defense Network’s monthly report on detained political and conscience prisoners (Issue 131, August 31, 2026) lists 周洪亮 in the “sentenced to 3 years and 6 months” group — exactly the sentence recorded in the CHRD database. The CHRD record links to the Minghui article as its further source.

Evidentiary limitations
Minghui (April 2024) stated the sentence length was unknown; the CHRD record (June 2024 entry, with knowledge by May 2025) gives 3 years 6 months — treated as a sequence of knowledge, not a contradiction. The trial date is reported only approximately (around September 4, 2023); court name and charge are unknown. The recorded sentence-end date (September 9, 2026) has passed; current status is unconfirmed and must not be inferred. This case is distinct from 周彩凡 (Zhou Caifan) and from Zhao Hongliang (赵宏亮), both different individuals; no merger with any other record should be made.
