Zhu Fenglan (朱凤兰)
Zhu Fenglan (朱凤兰) is a Falun Gong practitioner from Xinxiang City, Henan Province. She was 66 years old when the Huixian City Court sentenced her on May 19, 2021, to seven years and six months in prison with a 10,000-yuan fine, after her arrest on August 28, 2020, with fellow practitioner Zheng Jiajin (81) at a rented house in Nangao Village. The Rights Defense Network’s (维权网) monthly political-prisoners report (Issue 131, August 31, 2026) lists her in its 7.5-year-sentence band, confirming she remains in custody serving her term as of that date.
The case
On the afternoon of August 28, 2020, Zhu was arrested together with fellow practitioner Zheng Jiajin, 81, at a house the two rented in Nangao Village, according to Minghui, which reports that officers from the Xinxiang City Domestic Security Division seized a computer, a printer, and a large quantity of office supplies. The report states that both were interrogated at the Nanqiao Police Station and taken to the Xinxiang City Detention Center the next afternoon; Zheng was denied admission over dangerously high blood pressure and released that evening, while Zhu has been held there since.
According to Minghui, the Huixian City Court tried the pair on February 23, April 8, and May 8, 2021. On May 19, 2021, the court sentenced Zhu to seven years and six months’ imprisonment and fined her 10,000 yuan. Both defendants appealed to the Xinxiang City Intermediate Court. In July 2021, the intermediate court rejected their appeals and upheld the original verdicts. On July 27, 2021, Zhu was taken to the Xinxiang City No. 5 Women’s Prison.
