Zhu Lanhui (朱兰慧)

Zhu Lanhui (朱兰慧) is a reported Falun Gong practitioner from Yushan County, Jiangxi Province, a cashier at the Sanqingshan Organic Food Company, who was arrested at home on July 13, 2023 and sentenced to three and a half years’ imprisonment in 2024 after being identified from surveillance footage over distributed Falun Gong flyers. She had previously been subjected to 1.5 years of forced labor in 2012–2014. The case details come from Minghui.org, a Falun Gong-affiliated reporting outlet; no official court record has been located. The Rights Defense Network’s (维权网) monthly political-prisoners report (Issue 131, August 31, 2026) lists her in its 3-year-6-month-sentence band, confirming she remains in custody serving her term as of that date.

The case

On July 13, 2023, over ten agents from the Yushan County Domestic Security Division, the 610 Office, the Political and Legal Affairs Committee, and the street committee arrested the 53-year-old Zhu Lanhui at home. Police had received a tip that someone had distributed Falun Gong flyers and identified her from surveillance-camera footage. Her computer was confiscated (later returned). She was taken to the Shangrao City Detention Center, where she held a hunger strike for over ten days; she became very weak, weighing only 66 pounds, and guards force-fed her milk and gave her IV fluids. An insider reported she suffered foot pain.

Her family spent over 10,000 yuan on a lawyer, who entered a guilty plea for her. She was sentenced to 3.5 years; the sentencing date is not reported. Her family, never allowed to visit her in detention, learned of the conviction and her prison transfer only in October 2024. When they called the prison, they were told visits would be granted only after she renounced Falun Gong.

She is reported to be serving the sentence at the Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison. A December 2025 report states that guards, after an insider account of abuse, handcuffed her by the cuffs to a window frame with her feet off the ground for more than ten days in late March 2025 for refusing to renounce her faith; she responded with a hunger strike. An inmate assigned to monitor her restricted her to one basin of water a day for washing and laundry, and she was subjected to prolonged ideological pressure sessions.

Earlier targeting

On March 22, 2012, Zhu Lanhui was arrested at home by officers Yuan Bin and Ding Shulin of the Yushan County Domestic Security Division. Police confiscated her computer, cell phone, and Falun Gong magazines. She was held for a month at the Yushan County Detention Center, where agents of the Shangrao City and Yushan County 610 Offices interrogated her and pressed her to write statements renouncing Falun Gong; she refused each time. She was given 1.5 years of forced labor and transferred to the Nanchang City Women’s Labor Camp on April 23, 2012. After the labor camp system was abolished, she was moved to the Jiangxi Province Rehabilitation Center in May 2014 and held there until her term expired around late October 2014.

Status and evidentiary limits

As of August 31, 2026, the Rights Defense Network’s Issue 131 report lists Zhu Lanhui in its 3-year-6-month-sentence band with an in-custody classification. No release date has been stated in any public source; none is given here. All case facts come from Minghui.org, a Falun Gong-affiliated reporting outlet; no official court record and no reporting by an outlet independent of the Falun Gong community has been located. Not established: the sentencing court and exact sentencing date, the date of transfer to prison, and her current status beyond December 2025. Do not merge with: Zhu Jiacai (朱家彩 — adjacent roster row, different person, different province and case), Zhu Zhanshan (Yushu City, Jilin — different person), or the Amnesty/1994 “Zhu” record (different person and era) — never merge on pinyin alone.
