Zhu Yun (朱云)

Zhu Yun (朱云)

Zhu Yun (朱云), born in October 1965, is from Lianshan District in Huludao City, Liaoning Province. She graduated from university in July 1989 and worked as a process designer at the planning institute of the Jinxi Chemical Factory in Huludao. She began practicing Falun Gong in late 1997.

In October 2000, Zhu traveled to Beijing to petition for Falun Gong. She was seized and sent to the Masanjia labor camp for one and a half years, where she was subjected to abuse. Her work unit later expelled her.

On July 24, 2014, police arrested Zhu along with several fellow Falun Gong practitioners in Huludao. On September 25, 2015, the Lianshan District Court sentenced her to six years in prison. She served the term at the Liaoning Provincial Women's Prison, where, according to the reporting, she was forcibly drugged and returned home with memory loss. In subsequent years, with the help of fellow practitioners, she gradually regained the ability to live on her own. (These accounts come from Falun Gong-affiliated reporting.)

On March 2, 2025, Zhu was arrested again in the Jiuhua chemical district of Lianshan for posting handwritten “Falun Dafa is good” stickers. She was detained at the Huludao City Detention Center. On August 5, 2025, the Lianshan District Court tried her case; prosecutors recommended a sentence of up to three years, and on August 9 she was reported to have been sentenced to three years. The formal charge was not specified in the reporting. Her term runs to March 1, 2028.

As of August 31, 2026, Zhu was reported in custody, serving the 3-year term imposed in 2025.

Not to be confused with the Han-dynasty official 朱雲 (d. ~31 BCE) — a different person.
