Source conflicts and limitations
All custody, trial, beating, and torture facts rest on Falun Gong–affiliated reporting (Minghui.org, the Falun Dafa Information Center, and the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong) and should be read as such; no coverage by established international media (AP, Reuters, BBC, RFA, etc.) was found, and no official Chinese court record or state-media report naming Zuo Xiuyun was found. Tortures and beatings are reported only by Falun Gong–affiliated outlets and her own testimony — no independent confirmation is possible. Exact dates of the third (3.5-year) and fourth (5-year) sentences were not individually reported and are placed by release chronology. A minor timeline-sequencing ambiguity is flagged: Minghui’s October 2025 report said no verdict had been announced yet as of that report, while the January 2026 report and the World Organization bulletin place sentencing in October 2025 — materially consistent. The ZH web search for “左秀云” + 闽清 + 法院 returned only the zhuichaguoji.org bulletin and unrelated cases. No other Falun Gong case shares this name and biography; no wrong-person collision was found.
